I think Reuters hates Naomi Cambell.

And I know Heatherette hates fashion. It has to be true, because you don't just post this kind of photo for someone you like.

Project Runway finale.

Did I call it or what? That's it. Just a little gloating. HeeHee!

Prediction for the Project Runway finale. Spoilers abound.
10.15.06 (9:35 am)   [edit]
Sorry I've been away for a bit guys. My internet time is stretched thin already. I'll try to cover everything in order.

There is a pic of me on the Blogging Project Runway site, although it's really well hidden. And I'm gonna say it right now. I am not cute in it. I'm still losing weight so everything is weird and lumpy, I'm reflective white, my forehead has way too much shine, the dress is cuter in person, and one of my boobs is trying to get a lot of attention. There's nothing I can do about it now, except hide my head in shame. Which I can do, because it's DEEP buried on their site.

When we last left Project Runway, Laura accused Jeffrey of outsourcing the sewing. This would be a big deal, because it is basically cheating. So now, the big debate on the internet is whether Jeffrey cheated and will be booted, or whether he will be eligible for the prize. What is not in question is whether he will show at Fashion Week. Because of the spoilery goodness of the internet, we already know that he showed his collection. We just don't know whether he can win the big prize.

So let's look at the evidence, and here is where the spoilers really come into play. There are two video clips and a commercial available. One is from next week's episode, and it does not show Jeffrey. Well, that is completely absurd to base anything off of this clip. We KNOW Jeffrey was at Fashion Week. We have proof! So the people going off this and using it to form their argument that he is not eligible confuse me. The producers need him to show at this point, and for it to look the same as the other contestants for spoiler reasons. So what are you expecting them to do? Not let him look at the tent? Take away his preshow running around backstage getting his models ready time? No, what is much more likely to happen is that he goes to the tent with them, and after being accused by the others, he doesn't really feel the need to hang all over them in a buddy-like way. In other words, this tells us nothing.

The second video clip looks like an outtake from this last episode. Jeffrey and Laura have an ugly confrontation. Laura tells Jeffrey that she is his friend, and Jeffrey makes some pretty good counterpoints about why she isn't. Later in the clip, Jeffrey receives a call from Tim Gunn telling him that they don't have some receipts, and they need copies, so he should try and get ahold of the people that did his pleating. Now, there are certain things the producers allow them to have outsourced. Pleating is one of those things. So the fact that he had it done is not a big deal, UNLESS he cannot find the receipts for them, and then it's a very big deal. What makes this so spoilery is if you have seen his collection online. The pieces he sent out to have pleated were not shown in his collection, which suggests that he could not get the receipts for them.

The commercial is the most telling piece of evidence to me. Tim Gunn is in front of all the designers, and he's talking about the controversy. That's when he says, "And unfortunately..." and we watch Jeffrey start crying in Uli's arms. Well, that seems pretty cut and dry, but it isn't. First, Project Runway is notorious for making it seem like one thing will happen, when the opposite really occurs. They also are notorious for making words seem like they fit perfectly into place, only to find out later that the words belonged to an entirely different issue. So I'm not so sure that Tim saying "unfortunately" has anything to do with Jeffrey getting kicked off. Second, there are two versions of this commercial. One shows Jeffrey crying in Uli's arms, and the other shows him sort of breaking down in disappointment. In the one where he cries with Uli, that could be nothing more than someone reacting to a VERY stressful time. These guys are all incredibly stressed, and Jeffrey's stress level because of this scandal has to be a thousand times whatever the others are going through. In theone where he looks disappointed, that's exactly the problem. His look says, "Aw, that really sucks" rather than "I didn't do anything, this isn't right!" And I know that if I would not have had a look on my face that says, "Well this is bad, but how can I turn it around?" And this fits in with the spoiler from above. If he was told that he could show his collection and be eligible, but he could not include those two pieces that were pleated because they could not get the receipts for them, then he would have exactly that kind of look on his face. Third, Tim Gunn is a man with class. He is not going to call a meeting for the whole group, only to kick Jeffrey out. A lot of people would argue that he did that with Keith, but you have to remember, it's one or two in the morning, and there was nowhere else for them to go. Furthermore, that is their "home" while they are on the show, and Tim has to take that into account. I don't see him kicking anyone out of their home, and for all we know, Keith said they could stay. But with Jeffrey, there would have been no need. There are places they could go, and Tim would not be so cruel as to dismiss him in front of an audience. Fourth and finally, this does relate to Keith in a way. With Keith, it was very clear that he broke the rules. But with Jeffrey, as Tim told Laura, there is not a good way to prove this accusation. If Jeffrey outsourced the work, he probably would not have been so bold as to pay them with the PR money. It would have been under the table. So proving this is extremely difficult. But excluding two garments that he said he outsourced a portion (allowed by the rules) when he cannot come up with the receipts is fair. It tells everyone that they are not making light of the accusations, but also that they will not tolerate baseless accusations. It is fair to everyone. What I hope is that they do not preclude him from winning based on the fact that he now has fewer pieces in his collection, since they wasted his time all week.

I still predict that if he's eligible, he will win. If not, my pick is Uli.

As one final spoiler, Keith posted his contract in order to try and prove some of his weird rambling on the reunion show. It has since been taken down, but what it showed was very telling. A lot of people are puzzled why Jay turned down his prize, and why Chloe expanded her business, but never tried to do her own line for Fashion Week. In addition to knowing how busy Chloe has been, the contract might be the reason why. Every garment they make, every sketch, everything they do for 12 months after the win is the sole property of Bravo TV. Ergo, when Jay said that he couldn't accept because it was like selling his soul, this could be what he meant. If I were Chloe, I wouldn't put out a line either, because it's bad business sense. And legally speaking, my dress is not a Chloe Dao original. It's a Bravo Network original. Nice, huh? That $100,000 prize has a HUGE price tag.

Ok, I'm ready to pick a Project Runway winner, and this is chock full of spoilery goodness.
10.04.06 (1:27 pm)   [edit]
And it's going to suprise a lot of people.

I think Jeffrey is going to win.

Alright, already. Quit laughing. I'm serious. I know he's had some serious missteps this season. I know that people are not fond of his collection. But a lot of people were not fond of Chloe's collection, and she truly deserved to win. Her designs are breathtaking.

Some of you may have read the big commotion over the possibility that Jeffrey outsourced some of his sewing. A) Santino admitted last season that he outsourced some stuff. B) Laura and Jeffrey have been friendly since. C) His MySpace page shows no signs of worrying about the controversy. None of these are hard evidence, but they are good indicators.

It's finally happened. A model's clavicles are so sharp that they cut part of the dress straps off on one side.

Ok, not really, but this is part of the reason I am picking Jeffrey. What physics are involved in making this dress stay on her body? And how can it look so girly, and have that much boning and support in it? I'm not especially crazy about the color, but I can get over that. The sunburst pattern sewn into the ruffles on the skirt are very interesting (in a good way).

And many of the pieces are the same way. All of the other designers had problems with the fit of some of their garments. Uli's collection used too much of the same fabric in garment after garment, only to have an oddball piece thrown in every now and then. Laura's was the same way, and the feather garments made her model's hips look wide and square. Michael's collection was all over the place, and there was nothing cohesive about it. Furthermore, the fit was god-awful. Jeffrey had the collection of a professional. It was varied, but not too much. He used a lot of green-striped fabric, but knew to mix the order in which they came down the runway. It was cohesive, fit the models well, and showed an actual vision. Were there some mistakes? Sure. The first garment he sent out was atrocious. The vision he expressed in his collection is not for everyone. But at least an actual vision exists.

A point to note: the designers at the party in NYC said, without exception, Uli had the best collection. But these guys are not the ones choosing. For that matter, neither am I. So I'll catch you all after the finale, where we can diagnose what they look like when we can actually see them moving. Trust me, it makes a difference.
