I'm speechless.
04.30.07 (11:20 am)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

Trust me, you're going to want to see this Weird Toilet for Sale. It's completely disturbing, but hilarious at the same time.

I don't know who designed it, and the more I think about it, I don't want to know who designed it. But if you've got a lot of Warhol in your home, it might fit in pretty well. It's definitely a pop art piece that is completely functional.

Ready??? Here it is.

Is that not the wildest thing ever?!

Alice + Olivia- White Tights
04.30.07 (11:14 am)   [edit]

I have never wanted to be a ballerina more than this very moment. The beaded top is lovely, the skirt flitters along as it moves, and the even the tights are acceptable in this circumstance. Pair it with some ballet flats, and you're good to go.

Alice + Olivia- Textured Sleeves
04.30.07 (11:13 am)   [edit]

This is quite interesting, and it has a futuristic flavor to it.

The fleece combined with the waffle print sleeves is an interesting combination. And those pants are exquisite. I wouldn't necessarily have combined them, but I don't detest it either.

Alice + Olivia- Tabbed
04.30.07 (11:12 am)   [edit]

I'm just not feeling this. The sleeves hit at a weird spot on her arms. The dress is a weird length too, and those shorts aren't helping. But mostly, the tabs are just too uniform to have any appeal. It's too conservative a style. There's nothing imaginative here.

Alice + Olivia- Sweater Dress
04.30.07 (11:11 am)   [edit]

Sweater dresses are huge this year. And fortunately, they have a lot more style than the last time they were in vogue.

I love the cable knit of this, and it looks so comfortable and casual. Warning though- you should learn from this photo. When you wear tights with a sweater dress, you will be pulling the dress out from your crotch the entire time. Avoid tights and you'll get that sizzling hot Nancy Sinatra look. Put them on, and you look like your crotch is eating your dress. Hmmmm, tough decision.

The Whole9 comes to Chicago
04.27.07 (4:42 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

The Whole9.com is an online community that connects artists and other creative types of people together. They have dating boards, offer networking, and a place where artists can upload their portfolio and show off their work.

But that's not the cool part. The cool part is that they are coming to Chicago. There is going to be a meet and greet of sorts, so that you can get to know other Chicago artists. Appetizers are being served by Giuseppe Scurato, and there will be wine, and lots of good conversation.

If you're interested, it's on May 2, from 6PM to 9:30, at the Landmark Grill and Lounge (downstairs bar) at 1633 N. Halstead (between North and Armitage). For Whole9.com members, it's free, and all others are $10. Make sure you RSVP though. If you're thinking about joining, it's still a great price, and you'd get to kind of scope it out ahead of time.

Cheers, and have fun!!

Alexander McQueen- Jane Fonda
04.27.07 (4:34 pm)   [edit]

I'll admit my youth here, but I don't know a lot about Jane Fonda. She's not from my generation, and the most my generation knew of her is that she married a billionaire, had exercise videos, and got in a lot of trouble with her mouth over Vietnam.

Still, I can picture her in this. Not necessarily the new "Monster-in-Law" Jane Fonda. More of the 60's JF.

About the outfit, it's bold, and it's going to take a REALLY bold woman to pull it off. This look is not for everyone, and that's okay.

Alexander McQueen- Hoodie
04.27.07 (4:32 pm)   [edit]

What a weird fashion season we are having. There are hairy dresses, lots of WIDE legged pants, and now we have hoodies on the runway.

For a hoodie, though, this isn't bad. There are a lot of really ugly hoodies out there, and this is a much classier one. It borders on being a sweater dress, but isn't quite there. Very imaginative and very wearable.

Alexander McQueen- Gold Dress
04.27.07 (4:31 pm)   [edit]

The lines on this dress are phenomenal. With all the panels crossing over each other, it would be very easy for something to get just slightly out of place and it would throw the whole look off. That doesn't happen. Instead, it's a very well put together look.

Also, for Alexander McQueen, this is quite wearable.

Alexander McQueen- Futuristic Flight Attendant
04.27.07 (4:30 pm)   [edit]

Does this not look like she's ready to take your drink order for the inaugural flight to Mars?

The tights are a little too much, but the pattern is soooo gorgeous that I can forgive that small element. And the matching hat- love it. It's not very wearable, but Alexander McQueen never is.

Unique auction site.
04.26.07 (5:27 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

There is a site where you can get really, REALLY, cool prizes for very little. In theory, you could only pay a penny for a Scion XB, or an iPhone (not including what you have to pay the tax man, of course). I've actually done this before, and it's a little confusing when you are first trying to get the hang of it, but here's how it works. The site, bid4prizes, awards the items to the person with the lowest unique bid. What that means is that if you bid one pennny and ANYONE else bids one penny, you don't have a unique bid. But say everyone expects that someone will bid a penny, so they bid higher. You could swoop in and get the item for one cent. The bid has to be unique AND the lowest. If there are any duplicates, the system keeps going higher until it gets to the lowest bid that only has one person who picked it.

No, I didn't win the item I bid on, but it was pretty easy and fun. I'd go for that Scion, 'cause I could use a new car. I think there will be a lot of people going for it, so I'd aim around $145. But I'm not telling you how close, because I wanna win it! :P :D

Alexander McQueen- Fashionable Nun
04.26.07 (5:19 pm)   [edit]

If Alexander McQueen is designing the habits, sign me up to be a nun, because this is HOT! lol

All blasphemy aside, I love this look. The embroidery is exquisite, the fur is even nice, and I hate fur. The built in gloves and camel colored turtleneck are amazing. Every single thing works about this outfit.

Alexander McQueen- Bronze Pants
04.26.07 (5:18 pm)   [edit]

Bronze pants have been ridiculously hot this season. It seems just about every designer has a pair in their collection. But none are quite like this.

This illustrates the point I am constantly making that what you see on the runway isn't necessarily meant to be worn. These pants are ridiculously weird. But they are innovative. The way the strips come across the thighs may be something that is seen in the future, although in a much more moderated way. How can you moderate something like that?? Easy. Imagine a black skirt with diagonal strips of black and white striped fabric that meet in the middle. Picture a pair of jeans with an embroidered panel in this same location. Either one borrow from this look, but are easy to imagine actually wearing.

Alberta Ferretti- Tabbed Dress
04.26.07 (5:17 pm)   [edit]

I do not care for this one. So far, this collection has been awesome, but this isn't quite the beautiful gown it could have been.

I think something like this goes back to the Jay McCarroll dress for Project Runway. I also don't think the tabbed look has run its course yet. But hopefully, most will turn out better than this.

Alberta Ferretti- Studded Leather Coat
04.26.07 (5:15 pm)   [edit]

Hmmm. So conflicted on this one.

On one hand, I hate leather and I hate studs. I especially hate them on coats. On the other hand, the leather looks so soft, and the studs were done in such a way so that they look like beading or confetti.

What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it?

As Seen on TV
04.25.07 (2:02 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

We've all had those nights where we couldn't sleep. Or maybe there was an afternoon where there was nothing on, so you started watching an infomercial. You already KNEW it was an infomercial, but you were watching it out of boredeom or curiosity. Inevitably, you get sucked into the product. Why? Because they're cool!

Yeah, I've got some "As Seen on TV" products in my house. I didn't actually buy them off tv, but usually got them at a drugstore months after they came out. I'm actually in the market for one gadget I saw that lets you melt chocolate. Nobody carries those, except around Christmas time.

Anyway, I realize it's geeky, but it's geeky in a cool way. Trust me, if you have a product that was originally shown in an informercial, people notice it, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them will ask you, "Wow, does that really work???" lol Can't speak for the bacon cooker, but my OneSweep broom took glass out of carpet. I'd say that works.

Alberta Ferretti- Streamer Dress
04.25.07 (1:53 pm)   [edit]

I literally gasped when I saw this. I love the "streamers" along the bottom on the sheer portion. At the shoulders, having them the way they are is much classier than if it had just a halter neck or the dropped shoulders. Either one would have been a bit trashy, but this isn't the least bit trashy. Instead, it's a very classy, beautiful look.

Alberta Ferretti- Silver Coat
04.25.07 (1:52 pm)   [edit]

Patent leather coats are nothing new. Silver patent leather coats might not even be, but they are gorgeous.

There's nothing ridiculously complicated about this, which is GOOD. Why complicate an already beautiful coat with unnecessary frou-frou?

Alberta Ferretti- Ruffled Dress
04.25.07 (1:50 pm)   [edit]

While I love the spiraled look of this dress, I'm worried that it's a trend that's already gone stale. Still, I believe that if it looks good, screw the trends. There's nothing I hate more than someone who won't wear something because it's not trendy. The surest sign I'm joking is when I drop the phrase, "That's sooooo last season."

Furthermore, I reserve the right to be wrong about this being out of style. This is a style that I feel was never truly realized, and if it explodes, it's going to be HUGE.

Alberta Ferretti- Pleated Dress
04.25.07 (1:49 pm)   [edit]

This pleated dress is simply beautiful. The buttons weren't something I cared for originally, but they are necessary. With the pleats, it would be so easy to lose smaller buttons, and all of the details from the buttons to the tie to the belt must be big and simple. Otherwise, they'd get lost in the pleating.

Cool Fashion
04.24.07 (4:49 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

I heard about a site where I'm going to have to spend a little more time. They have the latest fashion trends, and lots of cool couture. It's called ElectricLadyLand.com.

The first thing I noticed about the site is that on the front page, they have the red and green dress from Jeffrey's Cosa Nostra collection on Project Runway. It sells for $550, so it's a little out of my price range, but I'm just thrilled that they have it!

It's geared mostly towards young, hip women with an attitude. If this describes you, there's no better store.

Alberta Ferretti- Swan Coat
04.24.07 (4:44 pm)   [edit]

Again, I'm not too crazy about the fleece sort of fabric. It's too heavy looking for such a delicate print. But what an interesting print it is. I love the swan at the bottom, and I think this is a playful, graceful coat.

Alberta Ferretti- Interesting Coat
04.24.07 (4:41 pm)   [edit]

This interesting coat is unlike most I've seen. I'm not too crazy about the vinyl sort of fabric they used, but I can get over it since it's SOOO cool. The red artwork at the bottom really adds a lot of interest to the coat, without overpowering the rest of the design. Very nice job here.

Alberta Ferretti- Grey Long Top
04.24.07 (4:37 pm)   [edit]

I am getting on my exercise machine RIGHT after I finish typing this, because I want shoulders hot enough to wear this. lol

The pants matching the top is something that I would usually frown upon, but in this instance, it works and it works really well. The trim at the top, with the patent leather is phenomenal. And that beading at the bottom of the long top is GORGEOUS.

Okay, I'm off to exercise. About 4 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the next 3 years, and I might be able to pull it off. lol

A site with some great info
04.24.07 (3:01 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

Now, all of you know that I've got my own site where I discuss trends, including trends in electronics. So needless to say, I am really anticipating this site's launch. TestFreaks.com is a site that's about to launch that talks about various electronics and the challenges of finding a good product. For example, if you want to know about plasma vs lcd, this is a good place to look because they have various reviews and articles written by experts.

I know, you're thinking, "Intricate, why would you promote a site other than your own? Don't you want the traffic?" There's two reasons for this. I write from a different focus than they do. Mine is to examine different products, with the overall goal being to highlight how they fit into various trends, and whether they even do. But it sounds like this site is more product review. Second, I am not looking to eliminate the "competition". Take this site for example. I am not out to eliminate Manolo the Shoeblogger just because he sometimes writes about fashion and I sometimes write about shoes. I think he's incredibly funny, and more power to him. If anything, I'd love to write an article here and there for Testfreaks.com.

Alberta Ferretti- Grey Jacket
04.24.07 (2:53 pm)   [edit]

As with other garments in this collection, the top is great, and the pants are a bit less so. I am not fond of the cropped length, especially in a fall piece, but they are fairly tolerable. The top is great though. I'm a bit concerned about the thickness of the jacket, but if that's the kind of fabric I think it is, it's really breathable, and it would not feel too warm.

Alberta Ferretti- Grey and Black Dress
04.24.07 (2:52 pm)   [edit]

I'm a total sucker for dresses that have been dyed to shift from one color to another, such as this one. But I especially like the cut and lines of this dress, and the squiggle really nails it.

The sleeves are wide, but not too wide. The way the waist is rounded to accentuate her breasts is great. This is overall just an amazing dress with a lot of character. A truly confident woman could pull this off really well.

Alberta Ferretti- Furry Dress
04.24.07 (2:51 pm)   [edit]

It's difficult to believe, but hairy dresses such as this are the one thing I'm seeing the most out of all the styles on the runway. Are designers under the impression that women are going to fall for this look? I cannot recall it being this bad last season.

Unfortunately, I do see a trend developing here. I can only hope it's heavily moderated and that few women give into it.

Alberta Ferretti- Feathered Dress
04.24.07 (2:50 pm)   [edit]

What is there to say about this dress? It looks like something on a soap opera. While this would be an interesting look for a purse, it's just tragic for a dress.

I found a site today that has various U.K. credit card offers. It's a really well designed site. Many credit card sites are so confusing. They show all the cards on one page, but you have to click each one to read the terms highlights or see which card is best for you. This one has it all on one page, without getting too cluttered. Even better, you can see what other people think of the cards by viewing the star rating.

They've got all different kinds of credit cards, from UK Balance Transfer Credit Cards to low interest rate ones. Once you click on a type, you can even see related cards so you can compare one with another. Pretty neat.

Agnes B.- McCall's at Home
04.23.07 (12:29 pm)   [edit]

This looks like those kind of outfits that are on the dollar rack at the fabric store. They are the kind that proclaim that you can learn to sew an entire outfit, with no previous experience, and that it will take you less than one hour!!! Guess what... Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Agnes B.- Long Satin Kilt
04.23.07 (12:27 pm)   [edit]

This isn't about the outfit of the woman in front. It's about the men's outfit in the back. On my other site, this week I will write about the recent sightings of skirts with legs. That's basically what this is, but for men.

It is almost like Hammer Pants are coming back, God help us all...

Agnes B.- Leather Tracksuit
04.23.07 (12:24 pm)   [edit]

Somewhere, a few cows died to make this monstrosity.

First off, tracksuits are ugly. Yes, that includes those velvet ones that everyone used to go nuts for. Second, head to toe leather is ugly. In fact, most leather outfits are ugly. It is my opinion that if you have to have leather, it should be as upholstery.

But that aside, this is just bad. The waistband is hideous, the way it's baggy and makes her look like she ate a lot of chocolate this winter, and the complete lack of color all work against it.

Agnes B.- Interesting Top
04.23.07 (12:20 pm)   [edit]

The pattern of this shirt is quite interesting. I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to represent, but it attracts your attention.

I personally would have paired it with a different skirt. That skirt is too short and it looks trashy compared to such a cool top.

Asheville Property
04.20.07 (2:12 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

While I don't know anyone who actually lives in Asheville, I know tons of people who live near there. One friend from a while ago lived near there and conducted a lot of business there. He was a CEO of a small car parts company, and did the majority of his business in Asheville. Last I heard, he was seeing a woman who lived there. Another friend moved there about 4 years ago. She's pretty well known in some circles, and she was given some property to develop. That still boggles my mind that she was just given property. Sure, she doesn't own it, but she more or less controls it. I think I also have some other friends in the area, but I'm not 100% sure about them. The one I'm specifically thinking of lives nearby, but it seems like she is just out of city limits. I know she's been looking for a place to move, and I've seen pics of some houses she likes. Pretty nice. Everyone I know talks about what a beautiful city it is, and I hope to visit there one day.

All these people are trying to find new homes asheville. Why not? If it helps them in their professional lives or moves them closer to people they love, great!

A.F. Vandevorst- Long Coat
04.20.07 (2:07 pm)   [edit]

I don't care for the look of this long coat. It has no collar, it is supposed to tie shut (but doesn't in this case), and lacks a real shape. In my opinion, it looks like a bathrobe.

The trend this season has been to do baggier clothing. I don't care for it, and this is why. It could have been a lot cuter if it added some shape.

A.F. Vandevorst- Interesting Top
04.20.07 (2:03 pm)   [edit]

This has the same look as the brown vest I discussed yesterday, but it's in a white color this time.

The style is phenomenally cool. It's a very flattering style. The pattern makes it a little less wearable than just a plain fabric, but I'm glad they took the risk.

A.F. Vandevorst- Furry Coat
04.20.07 (2:01 pm)   [edit]

Furry Coats are a HUGE trend. I think I have seen at least one furry coat or other garment per designer this season.

As far as that goes, this is a rather nice one. Most of them are going for the long, straight, black fun fur. You know, the kind like Elmo has? It's nice to see something different here.

My very own fashion bumper stickers
04.19.07 (5:52 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

With my other site, I've been looking at various giveaways and promotional stuff I can give away. If nothing else, I can get my mom to slap some bumper stickers on her car that scream ToastTheTrends to the world. lol

In addition to that, the place I do research for has been doing some SERIOUS promotional stuff recently, because they've got some media products coming out. If they ever ask me where to get custom made stickers, I'll know exactly where to find them now. That's something I can see going over really big at their site. I don't think the bumper stickers would work as well, but maybe just plain stickers for notebooks and stuff.

A.F. Vandevorst- Brown Top
04.19.07 (5:47 pm)   [edit]

This one is a bit unique. First off, I don't care for the pants, and the hem is really not my favorite. But mixing the various brown fabrics that all have a similar texture but different pattern is interesting. It's not something that's really been seen much this season, but it is refreshing.

Is this something new on the horizon? I don't know yet. I kind of hope it isn't. I'm a little worried about what some designers will do with it.

A.F. Vandevorst- Black Textured Outfit
04.19.07 (5:44 pm)   [edit]

There's several different textures in this outfit, and ultimately, I think they are used very well. It's not my favorite outfit, but it's okay.

The vest is furry, and it's paired with a sleek black skirt. Combine this with suede boots with leather toes, and you've got a lot of fabrics that share a color, but still provide enough interest.

A.F. Vandevorst- Black and White Conservative Dress
04.19.07 (5:41 pm)   [edit]

This dress is so matronly. It looks like you should be serving food at some kitchsy German restaurant with plastic tablecloths. The style is just atrocious!

A.F. Vandevorst- Big Sweater
04.19.07 (5:39 pm)   [edit]

This is one truly enormous sweater. lol I cannot imagine ever being so cold as to need something this big.

By itself, it's not that the sweater is awful. It's pretty good as far as sweaters go, but the color is a little drab. What the real problem is, is that it's all concentrated around the neck. There is enough fabric at that neckline to make another sweater.

A funny story and an unexpected find.

I've talked before about how I got several companies to honor expired gift certificates, or pay for parts that they weren't going to pay for. Here's one of my stories.

One year, for Christmas, I couldn't figure out what to get my hubby. See, the problem is that most years, he doesn't know what he wants, so he can't even tell me what would make a good gift. If I try to get creative, he usually hates it. For example, if I got him an iPod, he'd complain that it's proprietary, and he wants a normal mp3 player. ARGGGGH!!! So frustrating.

I finally decided to get him a gift certificate from a place in NY. I will not name that place here because they don't deserve the press, and if I'm lucky, they are out of business by now. They sent a xeroxed piece of paper with the amount scribbled in the corner and an expiration date 3 months later. Are you kidding me??? I buy gift certificates, in large part, because I don't want to decide right this second. Around here, you can't do that, so I figured they weren't keeping a close eye on the expiration date anyway.

We tried using it before the expiration, but they were all out of the product he chose. We called back again and tried to get something else, and they were out of that too. Now I was realizing their scam. And this is after I was transferred around from department to department. I hadn't even mentioned the gift certificate at that point, and I couldn't get anyone on the phone! Finally we found something they had, and they told me that they would send it. I asked about the gift certificate, and they told me, "That's expired." I told them I tried to use it during that time period and that the expiration date was ridiculous. They weren't budging, and I was livid. I said a few unkind things about her mother's extracurricular activities (I'm rotten, I know) and she hung up.

I did a little research and emailed the company. Within a week, they asked what I wanted and how I'd be paying for the remainder. lol What I told them is that they were breaking the law in NY, where they are based. I also told them that no matter what, I am getting my money's worth, whether they honor it or not. See, after three years, it's deemed unclaimed property, and they have to turn it over to the state. I get it back then, but I would bring them down long before that. :D

All of this is leading up to the real story. The thing we got was a photo printer. Handy, right? WRONG!! We never once had ink and paper for it, because it didn't come with it, and it's a special brand that nobody carries. Only, I think I just found a store that does. I've got to check my model numbers and find out for sure, but most don't carry any by the company that makes this, and they have a lot here. They are loaded up on Panasonic, Samsung, and Canon ink cartridges. Which means that finally, about 4 years later, I can finally see whether this photo printer is any good or not! ROFL!!

Lush Dream Time Balm

I wrote an article about Lush's Dream Time Balm for Associated Content. It's a great product that helps you with beauty in a different way- by helping you sleep better.

Skin Drink by Lush
04.17.07 (8:02 am)   [edit]
Another product I mentioned a few entries ago is Lush's Skin Drink moisturizer. Now, I'll tell you the bad stuff upfront, but you should realize that I consider it minor compared to how great my skin looks when I use this.

First, it's a weird brown and it smells like seasame seeds. Most people only encounter seasame seeds on hamburger buns, and in that quantity, they don't have much of a scent. But put them in bulk and extract the oils from them, and they are really pungent. lol

But it's those seasame seeds that make you look so good. I've gotten compliments before on my skin from the people working at a spa, and I notice an improvement since I started using this. So we're talking about some seriously good skin care product here.

Enchanted Eye Cream by Lush
04.17.07 (7:57 am)   [edit]
In the last post, I mentioned the Ultrabland makeup remover by Lush. Here is the Enchanted Eye Cream I also mentioned.

This is a fantastic eye cream, and I prefer it over any other brand. When my eyes were at their worst this winter, I tried a lot of different stuff, and everything burned, except the Lush products. This one is really moisturizing, but it wasn't enough for that particular time when my eyes were so awful. For any kind of normal eyes, or even light allergy eyes, this is great stuff. It comes in a little pump bottle so you won't contaminate the product while you're using it.

Enchanted Eye Cream Moisturizer

Ultrabland by Lush
04.17.07 (7:52 am)   [edit]
I went to a Lush store when I was visiting Texas, since A) they are my favorite store, B) I don't have one near me, and C) I wanted to see if they had a moisturizer for around my eyes. Technically, I didn't find one.

Some of you know that my eyes have had a rough winter. I still don't know the particular allergen, but I know the source- my heater. I don't want to contemplate what nastiness is lurking in there. I just want some eye cream to fix it. I tried Skin Drink and their Enchanted Eye Cream. Both were great, but still not exactly what I was looking for. I asked the sales clerk about it and he recommended a product called UltraBland.

It's not really a moisturizer, but it moisturizes. It's gentle, but it does the job. They recommend it as a makeup remover, but they were all standing around the counter talking about the different things they use it for. It was funny to listen to the different things they came up with.

It wasn't until later that I learned that 100% of their staff recommends it. And if you've ever visited their website, you'll know that's not just a store policy. This is the website where they let people talk about how they hate one product because it smells like bacon, or how a certain shampoo smells like burning tires. lol

It's good stuff, and I will cry like a baby if they ever discontinue it.

I know a lot of people search for coupon codes on my site. So here you go. This time, the deal I found is for Kohl's codes. I know a lot of women like shopping at Kohl's. I was there just a week or so ago, and saw lots of cool stuff for spring. The best look you can do from there is to get one of their spring dresses, and throw it over some pants. The dresses are short, and they look really fresh when paired with pants underneath.

There are two coupons for Kohl's at CouponChief. They have one for free shipping on gift cards, and one for 15% off. Hurry though. The 15% off expires today.

These are a good chance to get some good deals there. And if Kohl's doesn't suit you, you can find coupons for other merchants there. They have a list of over 1000 merchants, so I'm sure you'll find something suitable. Guys, they also have coupons for you!

A.F. Vandevorst- Belly Dancer
04.16.07 (2:30 pm)   [edit]

"Here. Wear these tights." "Uh-huh. Cool." "Okay, now hold still. I'm going to wrap this 30 cent a yard black lace around you." "Huh?!?!" Seriously, there's nothing more to this outfit. It's cheap black lace and tights. The end. Or at least, I wish it was.

A.F. Vandevorst- Bad Look
04.16.07 (2:27 pm)   [edit]

You know you're not doing yourself any favors when you get someone with a look like THAT in your audience. See the woman in the back right?? HeeHee! lol

The white sleeves are too long, the shirt is a bad version of asymetrical, she was sent out in tights, but they forgot the pants, and that hair. Oh god, the hair!!

Abaete- Zipper Dress
04.16.07 (2:23 pm)   [edit]

This looks like it's a one piece dress where the zipper stops about 5 inches from the top. I suspect that rather, it's two separate pieces, both the same color, with one over the other.

I dont care for the style, and I can't figure out why they put one dress over another one that was the exact same color, texture, and fabric.

Abaete- White Dress
04.16.07 (2:21 pm)   [edit]

This white dress isn't my favorite. The little geometric squares are strange, and having the top black velvet portion tie is silly. The whole thing has a retro sort of look, but not in a good way.

Smart phones
04.12.07 (10:59 pm)   [edit]

*This is a sponsored post.

The closer I get to moving, the more I want a decent cell phone. And not just any cell phone. I want a smart phone. I've always been a tech geek, and the idea of being able to TRULY keep in touch no matter where I am is intriguing. Email, text messaging, web browser, etc. I love it!

I think between being in a larger city and both kids being in school, I'm going to need something to get me out of the house. But let's face it, I love the computer. I want to be able to receive emails, check websites, and keep track of my website stats while I'm on the go. Now, I'm not big on doing that stuff while I'm driving. That's when the phone is truly off limits. But I can't think of how many times I forget something when I'm at the store. I can email a list to myself or check sales at other stores while I'm out. Plus, if the kids get sick or something, they can get in touch with me. And we'll still have the property out here, so our tenants need a way to get in touch with us.

Right now, the Blackberry smartphone is HOT. And I can see why. These are cool phones. I'll get one for myself, and because my husband doesn't care what kind of phone he has, he can have a silly little analog phone. lol

I've found some good deals, not just on the phones, but the plans as well.  The phone are mostly free after rebate, and an individual plan costs around $40.  Not too bad.  If I found the right plan, I'd even drop my home phone and use the cell phone exclusively.  It wouldn't be hard, and there's no reason to pay for both, especially when I can move around with a cell phone and can't with a normal one.

6267- Jean Coat
04.12.07 (7:20 pm)   [edit]

Yes, it's all about the coats with this designer.

This dark demin coat is both fashionable, and thoroughly wearable. I can easily see myself wearing this coat, and getting a lot of compliments on it. The fur at the cuffs is a nice touch, and I especially like that it's dark denim. I recently had a conversation with a group of people I know, and they all agreed that dark denim is the hot thing right now, and that nothing looks more dated than light colored denim. That is true whether it is a coat or a pair of jeans.

6267- Hairy Dress
04.12.07 (7:15 pm)   [edit]

Every few seasons, maybe every season, some designer confuses Cousin It with It Girl, and comes out with this exact dress. Naturally, I call it Cousin It Girl.

Sadly, none of them realize that it's just as hideous now as it was several seasons ago. Sorry guys, this look will never catch on.

6267- Grey Coat
04.12.07 (7:09 pm)   [edit]

This coat is more like it, and I LOVE those shoes. The lapels on the coat are a little too cowboy with a huge rifle (not speaking metaphorically) for my tastes, but it's still not a bad coat. The color is my favorite part. This is a hot color for fall. It's not quite black, but it's a very, very dark grey.

6267- Black coat
04.12.07 (7:06 pm)   [edit]

At first, I believed this coat was furry, because of the feathers hanging down at the bottom. On viewing it closer, I discovered that it wasn't furry, but the skirt underneath it was.

Without the feathers, it's just a boring coat that looks like it belongs on a deep sea fisherman. Not that there's anything wrong with their coats. Heck, if I worked that hard in that kind of weather, I'd want something warm too! But this is a runway in New York, not the waters off Alaska.

Search engine optimization fun
04.12.07 (4:30 pm)   [edit]

*This is a sponsored post.

I've discovered something after starting my own blog on my own site. Search engine optimization is really difficult. I've always said that I can write endless content, but promoting it is another matter entirely.

I've spent entire days checking and adjusting Adsense and checking rankings in various social bookmarking sites, going over the endless debates over whether page rank or Alexa rank really mean anything at all, and researching the best ways to get people to my site. It wasn't until the end of the day that I realized, "Crap, I didn't write a thing today." And if there isn't any content, there isn't a point sending people to my site, now is there?

Manhattanservice is a place that handles SEO for you. They also have a blog with tips for those of us who haven't quite decided to hand it over to someone else yet. And who knows? I may hire it out very soon. I find it's best to know my weaknesses and let somebody else handle those issues.

3.1 Phillip Lim- Slovenly
04.12.07 (8:22 am)   [edit]

This is a complete mess. The skirt is sloppy, the sweater looks like it was from quite a few years ago, and it looks like it was thrown over a cheap turtleneck. Paired with that ridiculous hat, it's awful.

3.1 Phillip Lim- Sheer Dress
04.12.07 (8:18 am)   [edit]

This sheer dress is very interesting.  I like the shimmer of the fabric, but I think the dress isn't the high quality look that they were trying for.  Furthermore, nobody should ever know the upper limits of your tights.  It makes it impossible to wear tummy support tights.  lol

3.1 Phillip Lim- Secretary
04.12.07 (8:14 am)   [edit]

This outfit reminds me of an old-fashioned secretary kind of outfit. Can't you just see this in something like The Hudsucker Proxy? lol

I adore the unusual look of the shoes. The black tights are acceptable in this case, because they match the dress. The dress is a little simple, but pretty. But the white shirt under it is sort of odd, and the bathing cap hat is completely bizarre.

"Taste Buds"
04.11.07 (1:22 pm)   [edit]
I was writing a CD review for my other site, and I came up with a new term that I think would work perfectly here. "Taste Buds" Now, I know. You're thinking that you've heard this term before. You probably think they refer to some bumpy things on your tongue. Wrong!

Many people have taste buds that don't work properly. They are told that boho is cute, and so they wear it. They might wear their boots over their jeans (ladies, the boots are that tall because you are supposed to show off how sexy your legs look in them, so quit tucking jeans into them and start wearing some skirts!). To use it in a sentence, "Heatherette is completely lacking in taste buds, as evidenced by the fact that they sent a man down the runway wearing a jockstrap, a Tin Woodsman hat, and a newspaper print shirt and buttless chaps combo."

HeeHee! I guarantee you, I WILL use this term again.

The story of my cat
04.11.07 (11:40 am)   [edit]
*This is not your standard paid opp notification. Read below for more info.

My cat died yesterday. We went out of town on our yearly vacation, and we left her with my mom. About halfway through the trip, we got a call from her. At first, I thought she was just overreacting, because she said that my cat wasn't eating. This wasn't anything new. She had a bad period a few months ago where she stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. She messed up her liver, but we got her some meds, and she got better. But it was never all the way better. She got very picky with her food, and she would never eat anything other than this one particular flavor of one brand.

So I figured my mom was overreacting and that she just didn't know how to care for a finicky cat. I told her to keep giving her the cat food we brought, and I thought she'd be okay. I'm kicking myself over that now. When I got to my mom's house, I saw just how bad she was. She had lost a lot of weight, and she couldn't afford to lose even an ounce. She couldn't stand or move because it took too much energy. My mom also said that there were brown spots on the carpet, which are probably from cat diarrhea. I knew right then that she wasn't going to make it through the night.

She was a sensitive girl, and I wonder if she thought we abandoned her and just gave up. She was already sick, but she could have held on indefinitely. But she thought we were gone forever, and that was it. When we got there, she looked so happy, and she tried to get up, but she couldn't. The damage was already done. I hate to say it, but maybe it's for the best. We had to find a new home for her because of allergies and moving, and we couldn't find anyone who wanted her. Even if we had, if she's going to starve herself to death, that's an awful situation for everyone, including my cat Abby.

So when I brought her home, I stayed on the couch so I could be with her, and I prepared the kids that they might want to tell her goodbye. About 2:30 in the morning, she had some low growls, and I gave her some water with a bulb syringe. She couldn't even drink anymore, and it broke my heart. I got down a rhinestone chain that she loved, and she took a couple of swats at it. Even though she was so weak, she knew what was going on. I told her I loved her and it was okay to die if that's what had to happen. I went to sleep and when I woke up about 5am, she was gone. I don't think she felt much pain, because she didn't make any noise or howl in any way. It was very gentle.

I covered her and put her in the corner so that the kids could see her if they wanted, but so that they didn't have to. They both wanted to. Obviously, they were torn up over it. This is the first death either can remember, and it affected them hard. I kept my son at home yesterday.

Abby, baby, I miss you. We all do. We will always love you, and remember you as the silly cat that used the table as a launching pad for your hurdle jumping career or playing with the rhinestone chain.

***I battled for a really long time with myself over whether I wanted to take a paid opp about my cat. In the end, I decided that it would not bring her back and if it could help some pet owner find help for their sick pets, it's worth it. I am donating the money, in my cat's name, to Heifer International. They are a great organization, and not to take away from the sponsor, but I hope you'll consider a donation to them too. Thanks for letting me share how special Abby was.

6267- Boring Suitdress
04.10.07 (5:54 pm)   [edit]

This is just so dull that I don't even know where to start. The brown is about as boring brown as you can get. The black tights are mismatched. The cut, the pockets, the fabric- BORING, BORING, BORING!!!!!

3.1 Phillip Lim- Bad Tux
04.10.07 (5:52 pm)   [edit]

Ew. This is extremely bad. The shirt isn't a real tuxedo shirt. It's not even a real dickie. It's a shirt that's made to look like a dickie. Considering that a dickie is supposed to go under a jacket and look like a faux shirt, what kind of weirdness is happening when you have a faux dickie? Also, jeans? Yuck! And the worst part is the color. White tux jacket with a bright red Bozo the clown bowtie? Awful.

Waiter, can I get a drink?

I got a new hat
04.10.07 (5:41 pm)   [edit]
I went to a Ren Faire this last weekend. It's been a family tradition ever since I started dating my husband. We always make our way down to the Scarborough Ren Faire in Texas. Every year we stop at the hat shop, but we haven't needed one until this year. I swear to you, it was snowing. In Texas!!! Hard!!!!! After sitting down to watch the mud show, we were a little frozen. So we made our way to the hat shop to get something to keep our ears warm.

I originally chose a crazy felt hat that they call the pimp hat. I think it didn't look like anything a pimp would wear, but I can't say I've had a lot to do with their profession. I think it looks like something the old club kids would wear.

But as I got to the register to pay, I saw one I liked better. It was a tweed pattern with pink and black, and had a pin on the inside. It looked sort of like a fedora, but I'll be the first one to admit that I don't know my different hat types.

It's a little Britney Spears, and I'm going to have to wear just the right outfit to combat that. But it served its purpose. It kept my ears warm, and there's a chance I'd actually wear it in the future, as opposed to that silly "pimp hat".

Ross Simons Swirled Ring
04.10.07 (5:26 pm)   [edit]

This ring by Ross Simons costs $1495, so it's not going to be on my must-get-list anytime soon. But I do love it. It's imaginative and beautiful. The three diamonds are a little too large for my tastes, but I suppose it's tolerable.

Real Estate Empire
04.10.07 (8:42 am)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

BuyerHunt.com is a new service that offers sellers the opportunity to search for buyers before they spend any money on marketing. The way it works is simple. Homebuyers post what they are looking for in a home, and sellers can contact them if their home meets the criteria.

This would be especially handy for my growing real estate empire. All my friend tease me about becoming a "land baron" although one friend told me he can't wait for us to become a "slum lord" in his area. I told him that I absolutely am not a slum lord, and if I get some property that he rents from us, all necessary repairs will be made in a timely manner. I knew he meant it as a joke, but he saw how serious I was about keeping my properties looking nice.

By posting what I'm looking for, I can narrow it down to the properties I am really interested in. It saves me time because I already know what I want, and I don't have to waste time viewing properties that I'm not going to be interested in. It gets some of the work out of the way ahead of time.

Simon Alcantara Necklace- Part 2
04.10.07 (8:15 am)   [edit]

This necklace is gorgeous, but not every woman will be able to pull it off. For it to work, you're going to need a very long neck. Gweneth Paltrow could wear this. I couldn't.

It's a fantastic look though. It's the kind that's really beautiful when you are looking at it, even if you can't really pull it off.

Simon Alcantara Necklace
04.10.07 (8:11 am)   [edit]

This lariat necklace is deceptively beautiful. I normally dislike gold and pearls together. In fact, I dislike gold tones period. But this just looks right.

For the guys in my readership, here's how the necklace works. You put it around your neck, and then thread the chains through the ring. The ring ends up right in that little divot-ey part of your neck, and the chains hang down.

I might like it even better if the chains were different lengths, and they had crystals on the ends. But this is a very nice, simple design.

Sea of Diamonds Ring
04.10.07 (8:07 am)   [edit]

This ring tries very hard to be interesting, but ultimately, I think it fails. It's got too much order to be a freeform design, and it's too disorderly to be an orderly design.

I think this would have looked better if it was more chaotic. It would have been imaginative and fun. Instead, it resembles costume jewlery. And at $785, that's a bad look.

Kenneth Jay Lane Ring
04.10.07 (8:03 am)   [edit]

This ring makes a great right hand ring, but not for most occasions. Sure, it's fun, but it has too much of a 60's feel to be relevant today. I also don't know what's up with the band inside the band. When I get rings that have those kind of resizer things built in, I like for them to be more subtle. 'Course, it's not like anything else about this ring is subtle.

Blog Awards
04.05.07 (1:24 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

As I blogged about last night, my other site is up for some web awards. Make sure to go vote for me!

Also, while you're there, you can nominate and vote on your favorite blogs, including your own. Think you're the best entertainment blogger out there? Nominate yourself and find out! Or perhaps you want to nominate your worst enemy for most obnoxious blogger. Feel free. Heck, if you really feel strongly about it, nominate me. lol They say that all press is good press (then again, I may just nominate "them" for saying that). Or if you really want to mess with the results, I suppose you could nominate yourself for most obnoxious blogger, but I'd hope you have more self-esteem than that.

My favorite category? Hottest Mommy Blogger. I have no shot at winning (unless you vote for me, that is- heehee), but I'd love to tell my family about it.

There are one or two categories I'm leading already, and I'm tickled that people are voting for me. Thanks guys! For the rest of you, it's a quick register, and a simple click to vote. Mine is "Toast the Trends".

Cheers, and I hope to see a lot of you signed up there.

Ross Simons Ring- Pearls and Diamonds Part 2
04.05.07 (9:56 am)   [edit]

This ring is NOT nearly as affordable as the last one. It sells for $1270.75. Yikes!

I chose this one to review, because I remember a ring that was VERY similar to it. Several years ago, I was visiting Kansas City. There was a jewelry store in one of the malls there. It was a little boutique, not a chain jewelry store. They had a ring that was almost exactly the same as this. It had a large south sea pearl, and diamonds in a triangle on the sides. And it was the most breathtaking ring I'd ever seen. There just wasn't the money to buy it, even though it was about half the cost of this one. And I wasn't about to charge it. I'd rather budget for that sort of thing, since it is completely unnecessary.

I went back the next year, and it was still there. The man was willing to make a deal by then. Unfortunately, my finances were in worse shape. I still don't own it, and I probably never will. But believe me when I tell you that it was the most stunning ring I had ever seen. The pearl had the perfect luster, the diamonds were almost perfect... It was a nice ring, and whoever owns it got a great piece of jewelry.

Ross Simons Ring- Pearls and Diamonds
04.05.07 (9:50 am)   [edit]

I LOVE this ring. It's not too bad as far as jewelry is concerned either. $236 at Ross Simons.

I've always been a fan of white gold, pearls, and diamonds combined together. It's just a classy look, and even when you do a playful design like this, it looks more sophisticated than any other stone would. I am definitely going to budget for this.

This is a quick head's up on a site I found. You can get a Norton Antivirus free download from this site. I'm not even going to discuss the benefits of Norton, because they are so obvious to anyone who has ever used a computer. But I will talk about the site. Not only is it a free download, but it's from Google. I would be sort of skeptical if it was just some random site, but I trust it a lot more coming from Google. I know that it will really be free and it won't come with all kinds of nasty malware. There are other programs that are available, so if there's something different you're looking for, check them out.

Gucci Ring
04.04.07 (5:20 pm)   [edit]

Speaking of right hand rings...

This is definitely a right hand ring, but it's one for people with some serious pocket change. And even then, I can think of better things to spend my money on than a REALLY large ring.

The faceting is beautiful, and I like that the setting has something different than the typical, boring prongs. But it's just not cute in my opinion.

Chanel Ring
04.04.07 (5:16 pm)   [edit]

This ring is a beautiful creation by Chanel. Sure, it's kinda showy, but anymore that isn't considered a problem. You throw it on your right hand and it can be as crazy as you want.

I love the lattice look of it. I think it's an interesting style for a ring. And diamonds and pearls are classic.

You can borrow this from Bag, Borrow, or Steal. I don't even want to contemplate how much it would cost if you bought it.

My favorite shoe store is no longer present on the web. United Nude has a sister company that offers eco-friendly shoes, and that's what comes up when I visit UN's website. If anyone lives in NYC, please leave a comment and let me know if they are still in business.

Gwen Stefani's Outfit at KCA
04.04.07 (12:37 pm)   [edit]
I watched the Kid's Choice Awards on Nickelodeon last night. I have to say that I really loved Gwen Stepfani's outfit, and I think it's an easy one to recreate.

First, throw on a tank top and some yoga pants with a stripe down the side. Then put a strapless dress over the top. The tank top should be tucked in, and a contrasting color. Pair it with some ridiculously high heels, and you have a look that is sophisticated casual. Her's had some weird saddlebag elements on the side, but for a more normal look, you can just have a typical strapless dress over the top.

For a similar hairstyle, make sure that your hair isn't freshly washed. The oils will actually help the look a bit. Take your bangs and curl them up and back, so they form a very tightly curled portion really close to your scalp. Don't brush this out. If you have long bangs, you can clip the ends down. If you are like me, and you don't have bangs, simply take a portion of your hair at the front where bangs would be. Have a clip open and ready to use. Pull it back, and then push it forward just slightly, so it forms a raised pompadour sort of area. Clip it down. Then, no matter whether you have bangs or not, brush the rest back in a very sleek ponytail set high on your head. If you are good at styling your hair, you could do a french twist instead. Just make sure to leave the bangs area untouched and very tight looking. Viola! Instant rockabilly chic.

Big Business Marketing.
04.03.07 (3:33 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

world market systems is a site made by some marketing gurus who knew that people want to make money from the internet. But they also knew what a challenge that can be. It seems like you either have to know everything there is to know about designing a website, or you have to spend big bucks to hire someone to design it for you. And then after you have it designed, you still have to set it up in such a way so that you can make money from it. And even if you get set up with all the typical moneymaking opporunities, people STILL probably aren't going to come to your site unless you know a little something about SEO.

They make economical sites that are designed for affiliate marketing. Now, I think that there are a lot of sites out there that are designed for affiliate programs that look sleazy. But if it can fit within the site and look organic, that's much more acceptable to me. It just depends on the context. And a good site design certainly helps.

Roberto Cavalli Part 2
04.03.07 (9:09 am)   [edit]

As promised, part two.

The difference between the heels and the shoes is that the shoes look like you *might* be able to pair them with one outfit in your closet and come up with something cute. But these are a boot that is so overwhelming, you would have to have an outfit designed around the shoe.

If you are going for a look that says "I have loads of money and I love spending it on gorgeous things" this is a good boot to own. This is the Ferrari of shoes. It doesn't suit most women and even when you own one, it's ugly as hell, but there's still something about it that you desire.

They are on SALE for just under $530 dollars. And then you still have to have that outfit made just for you. Eek!

Roberto Cavalli Part 1
04.03.07 (9:04 am)   [edit]

This is part one. See the next entry for a different shoe style in the same print.

These heels have a rich, deep purple/red background and gold scrollwork throughout. The heels are gold to match the scrollwork.

They look painful through the arch, because it looks like they rise at an odd angle. Be aware of that before you order. They are on sale for about $355 at Zappos.com

Roberto Cavalli Shoes
04.03.07 (9:00 am)   [edit]

These Andros shoes have an interesting look. On the surface, they are boring to the point of ugly. But with the right outfit, they would really shine. I'm thinking a British hunt inspired suit dress, and a funny little hat on top. :D

Giuseppe Zanotti Shoes
04.03.07 (8:58 am)   [edit]

These wedges by Giuseppe Zanotti are interesting. It's kind of got a medieval sort of look. They have a sort of chain mail appearance, but it's hard to tell if they are actually woven like chain mail is. Lovely, and they certainly are interesting.

These shoes are on sale for 414.67 at the Zappos.com couture collection

Confessions and the allergist.
04.02.07 (4:55 pm)   [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.

I have a confession. I went to see the doctor over this winter, because I had something wrong with my eyes. They were red and had a horrible rash. Meanwhile, I'm starting to get some job offers because of this fashion blog, and here I am embarrassed to leave the house because I frighten small children. I have felt like a liar. After all, how can I talk about beauty when I felt so ugly?

The doctor was completely baffled. Actually, two doctors were. The skin around my eyes was red, but my eyes were perfectly fine. Finally they started flaking and getting cracks, which is very painful, needless to say. The doc put me on prednisone, and it immediately cleared up. Now, that isn't a drug you can stay on long term, but it did tell him what he needed to know. This is an allergy.

I began taking Zyrtec, because it's going to be a while before I can begin seeing an allergist to discover what caused the problem. Meanwhile, my doctor was trying to think of what could cause it. It looked like a contact allergy to him, but I don't often use eye makeup, or even skincare products. Especially around my eyes. I have always been fortunate enough to have pretty clear skin, and my eyes were my best feature. That's why this really upset me so much. But it was something that baffled two doctors. Allergies don't behave like this.

Last week, it started getting warm. I turned on the fan on my window AC, and that's when I noticed little black spots on it. I think it was mold. It hadn't been something I even looked at all winter, so I didn't notice it. I took the louvers off, cleaned them, and then sprayed it with this Clorox solution. And guess what? My eyes have been steadily improving since then.

I'm worried now. Do I need to go through special Mold Removal steps? My eyes aren't completely better, and I'm wondering how bad this is. All winter, in an effort to make my eyes better and keep them more moisturized, I used a humidifier. I wonder how bad that made it. I am worried about turning it on at all, for fear I might make it worse. And this is all from something that wasn't even running at the time!!! Mold is nothing to mess with, and I'll be ready to move to a place where I won't need the AC. I'm worried to use it. And just in case you think it's a coincidence like my husband did- I haven't been on the Zyrtec in a week, and they are still improving.

Anyone who has read this blog knows I've got a special love for shoes with flowers. I don't know why. I'm honestly not that much of a girly girl (yes, despite the fact that I have not one, but two fashion blogs). This is just the latest in a long line of flowered shoes I love.

The color is fantastic. It would go with many different outfits. But the style is much more limiting. You could wear it with jeans and a cute hoodie, but you couldn't wear it with a business suit. For it to become appropriate again, you have to go all the way up to formal wear. That's rather unusual.

Claudio Merazzi- Gold Striped Pumps

I am so mixed on these. For starters, I hate the color gold. But it is the hot color right now, so if I forbid it from my wardrobe, I miss out on a lot of things. On the other hand, why give into a trend I hate. The trick is to know the trends and use what works for you, and gold has NEVER worked for me.

As far as the shoe itself, I still have mixed feelings about it. It's a sexy shoe, or rather, it could be. The bottom is so damn matronly with it's thick, ugly base. But the stripe through it is awesome. It's not too crazy, and it's not too subtle. It strikes a perfect tone that assures your footwear will be notice, but doesn't go so far as to make people say, "Ew! What's she thinking?!?"

Casadei- Brown Stripes

These are a little more serious than most of the shoes I talk about. While I tend to like the kind of shoes that make people notice what you're wearing, I can certainly understand the need for a good pair of work shoes.

The best part about these shoes is that they are great for work, but they also will get you some attention. Of course, some of that attention will be in the form of co-workers wondering how you manage to walk in such high heels. These are a bit tall for most women, so good luck wearing them.

These Casadei shoes sell for $308 at Zappos.com in the couture collection.

Now that it's spring and the weather is starting to get nice, I am looking for new shoes. Not necessarily to buy, because I'm not sure I actually need any more shoes. Ever. But I can look all I want.

These striped shoes by Casadei are simply lovely. They would match almost any kind of spring outfit, and the white straps across the top helps calm them down a bit. Otherwise, it would be a little too much to take.

These shoes sell for $298.00 at Zappos.com. You can find them in the Couture Collection.

Awesome unsigned bands

*This is a sponsored post.

My husband is taking me to see my favorite band in concert. It was unexpected, and it's really far away, but it's worth it. I've never seen them live.

This is a big deal for me. I LOVE concerts and music, and I used to go hear a lot of unsigned bands when I was in college. But after I got married and had kids, there was always something else to do. I kept listening to music that was from a friend of a friend. They'd slide me a cheap homemade CD and I'd listen to it. I love doing that kind of thing. I was always the first one to know about the upcoming bands, and I miss that.

There's a site where you can find lots of unsigned bands from all kinds of genres. There's electronic, jazz, and Metalcore Bands, not to mention a whole slew of others. I've been listening to various artists on there, and some have the potential to go really far within their genre. Check the site out, 'cause it's pretty cool.
