I found this, and I had to pass it along. No, this isn't a sponsored post. Just a site I REALLY dig.

You send them a child's drawing, and they make jewelry out of it. My daughter has done some pretty cute stuff, and I love the thought of being able to wear a pendant made from one of her drawings. My son just made a drawing of a building, and that would be so cool to have as a keychain for when he becomes a world famous architect. :D Beyond that, can you even imagine how surprised the grandmas would be to get one of these?! They'd wear it everywhere!
Now, I have literally seen everything there is to see. Surprisingly, I actually like that everything! :D
Today I found a site of knitter's jewelry. Cross Jewelers has two knitters on staff, and they began making jewelry that was similar to some of their knitting stitches. They've got several pieces, ranging from a knitting ring to an argyle locket. My personal favorite is the Knitter's Ball Necklace, which looks like a ball of yarn. No, really. The gold is woven together in such a way so that it twists and turns upon itself, creating a really intricate pattern. And even within each loop, there's so much detail that makes it such an interesting piece. Truly, you have to see it to appreciate it.
God help me, I think this one has potential. The plaid needs to go away, but I'm actually digging the rest of it. It's such a Spanish look. The boots really rock it.
I don't care for this one single bit. I mean, the fact that it's got an enormous print is bad enough. But to make leggings out of it, and especially leggings that can't be seen under the mass of flowers and ruffles, is going way too far. When I am very rich, and I lounge around all day in my mansion, wearing nothing but muumuus and talking to pool boys named Franco as I work on my alcoholism, I will consider this fair game. Since I don't expect any one of those things to happen, this is off-limits!
I actually like this. Not in the sense that I want to run out and buy it, but I know that if I saw somebody on the street wearing it, I'd think they had some wacky, but very interesting taste in clothes. And to be honest, that's the way I would most like my own style described. I'd love for people to think, "I've never thought of pairing that kind of shirt with that kind of skirt, but I don't see any reason why you shouldn't."
I was surfing the 'net today, and found a site with prom dresses, and other gowns. The photo above is one of my favorite prom dresses on this site. I like the beige colored gown the most. This color works especially well with the style, and it looks very sweet and innocent. The gathered top is beautiful, and it has a delicate little bow right underneath the bust. I also like the way the hemline ties in with the top, and gives it a very finished look.
Here's another one to check out. I'm not as fond of the bottom, but the top is phenomenal. If you visit the site I found for ball gowns, you will notice a larger image of this same dress at the top of the page. I love everything about the top of that dress, from the way it has a diamond pattern to the funky angles, to the black-on-black fabric.
There's some really interesting dresses at this site, and it's worth checking out.
This skirt is pretty voluminous. And actually, it's not that innovative. Why? Because I had a skirt exactly like this in the sixth grade. Same black fabric and everything. It was a NIGHTMARE to keep looking nice. I mean, you want it to be gathered, but not wrinkle. And this fabric LOVES to wrinkle.
It was nice taking a trip down memory lane, but I'm more than happy to leave this back in sixth grade.
The shirt and hat are absolute disasters. They look like something that guy that Doc Hopper brought in to kill Kermit the Frog wore. But the skirt. Ohhh, so beautiful! There's nothing particularly innovative about the cut of the skirt, but the pattern is very pretty and it works well with a skirt this full.
Most pieces in this collection have featured fingerless gloves and brightly colored fingernails. But none stood out as much as this. The dress is beautifully tailored and the fishnet hosiery gives it a punky look, but the yellow gloves seem misplaced.
Oh boy. On one hand, I love the innovation of this. The little skirt thing has potential, but the poofiness just kills it. And even though it's an interesting thought to wear a short, sheer skirt over a pair of pants, I don't know that it actually works in practice. Also, the sparkles just kill the outfit. It's a bit too fancy. I'd get rid of the sparkles, get rid of the poofiness of the skirt, and make it a long top that has a wide belt over it. That might work a bit better.
There's a new movie coming out soon called Eye of the Dolphin. It's about a trouble-making girl who is sent to live with her father, a dolphin researcher. Her father has little time or patience for her, and she feels unwanted there until she meets one of the dolphins. It sounds like a nice family movie for the end of summer. Those who saw the film "Gracie" will be familiar with the star, Carly Schroeder.
The filmmakers are giving away tickets in a contest. Make sure you visit Eye of the Dolphin to find out more information and to enter. Also, as a special treat, here is a link to the trailer for the movie. Or, you can watch it below.
I love the coat, but I don't care at all for the skirt. The skirt actually demonstrates a point though. When looking for clothing, watch out for pieces that have weird cut off lines. For example, do you really want people to think that your hips and ankles are wide, but your knees are narrow? Because that's what this garment is suggesting. That's not flattering on anyone.
Hello beautiful!! lol
Okay, so it's not true tie dye. But you can see the similarities, right?? What this dress does is force your eye to see more curves than are really there. It's a gorgeous, sexy dress, and it's very flattering.
Hey, PastorDave. You were wondering why they all look sad. Sorry, but there's no way I could look happy wearing this ridiculous floral-looking garment. I'd think, "Aww, man. My first runway show and I get put in the stupid plant outfit. All my friends are gonna see me in this." lol
The fabric is very interesting for this outfit. Putting the color aside, it looks like brushed steel. But then that freakish pattern just ruins the whole thing. There is nothing to be done to save this. It's ugly, and it can't be made prettier by adding different leggings, or a bow.
This fabric is exactly why I worked in so many different fabric stores. I was always chasing that next gorgeous fabric. I'll admit, this is one of those that I would have liked the fabric, but known that it could only work if you had that one perfect outfit for it. I think this is the one perfect outfit.
There are a few details here and there. Some of the pin pleating is really beautiful. But it exists to showcase the fabric in this case. Even the cut is done to maximize the look, and the way the color shifts from brown to green, and shimmers in the light. It's beautiful.
The Alzheimer's Association wants your help. Every year, they hold a Memory Walk where they raise money for support and research on Alzheimer's disease. This is an issue that is very important to me, because my grandparents lived with us when they had it. It was so difficult on our entire family, and no child wants to watch as their parent or grandparent goes through that. I remember telling some friends earlier in the week about my grandma. She got confused, and even though she remembered that there were three women in the family, she could only remember my name. So there were three of me running around the house, and it was hard trying to figure out which one of us she was actually talking about. I know it had to be hard for her to try and express herself and say what she wanted to say when everything felt muddled inside her head.
Please sponsor a participant if you are able, or consider walking in order to raise awareness and funds for research. The Memory Walk happens all over the nation, and if they aren't happening in your area, take the lead and get one started! They are looking for individuals that will sign up early and agree to be a team captain. This isn't a hard job, and it's for such an amazing cause that I really encourage everyone to get involved. It's something I plan on discussing with my family tonight.
Sometimes, especially with issues like this, I feel so overwhelmed. I can't solve or cure Alzheimer's. I don't have the first clue how! But then I remind myself that I can do small things that are within my reach. Walking is certainly within my reach.
One of my favorite movies, Ridicule, has a dressing gown that is very similar to this. As far as a dressing gown goes, it's a great look. But for an actual shirt, it's WAY too baggy. Not to mention, they find the most pixie-like, waifish model available, and inevitably, no matter which designer she works with, they drown her in fabric.
I truly am torn between the beauty of the piece, and how absolutely horrible it looks here. I honestly don't know what could be done to save it.
Okay, I want to talk about one of my least favorite trends of the last few years. The big scarf. Is it really necessary to wear a scarf that's so big that it looks like you slung draperies around your neck?? Certainly the print is so beautiful, but I'd rather that it was on a long woman's coat than a men's oversized scarf.
This piece is a bit unusual. Designers typically like to think of themselves as artists, but as artists with the cut, lines, and fabric of a garment. But usually it doesn't stretch quite this far. lol
I hate it, and I think it's completely ridiculous looking, but is is innovative, and that's usually lacking in menswear.
This furry white vest is very cute. As with a lot of pieces in this collection, the pieces themselves are very cute, but the combination is all wrong. The white vest and black pants are nice, but they would look better with a shorter, more fitted top. Overall, it's not a bad look, just not one I would have put together.
This is the reason fur went out of style. It just looks so masculine, in the sense that it seems like something you should see hanging on a wall with antlers, fish, and other animals sacrificed to the need to shoot something.
The shorts are very cute, although a little baggy, and the scarf is very nice, even if it shouldn't go with this outfit. The shirt is a bit of a disaster.
Boy, that's one BOLD dress. And other than the v-neck, there isn't a lot of interest to the cut. Apart from the boldness of it, there's a tiny bit of detail along the neck, where it loops. Very pretty, but way too subtle and virginal for this neckline.
One final note, look at that bracelet she has on. I want one of those! So cute!
I don't care for the messy look of this skirt, or any of the outfit for that matter. It's all a bit wrinkled. What's really puzzling me is how the left side of that shirt is so wrinkled and gathered up, because I don't see a seam down the front, and the right side is smooth. That skirt though, ugh! The fact that it's supposed to be that way makes it even worse.
The leather jacket is a lovely cut, but the color is just awful. What a weird, washed-out maroon/brown color.
Okay, I found a deal today that is hard to believe. I'm still trying to figure out how exactly they can offer this deal. What's the deal??? Well, it's one year of free web hosting. The hosting company has a 99.9% uptime guarantee, 24/7 customer support, and one step script installation tool so you can install some of the most popular applications out there on the internet.
Now, the company I use is good. No complaints. But they sure aren't offering me a year of free service!! One of the companies I used in the past had a lot of downtime, and another company made it very difficult to set up anything, and their customer support took weeks to respond to you!! So the fact that they are doing all of this for free is incredible!
I've got two domain names that I own, but I'm not using. I am very seriously considering transferring them. There's also one more I've been wanting to start. It would be a funny photo blog with a specific focus. I won't say more than that, but it's pretty funny. Why not start it there? If they are going to give me free hosting, I'm going to take it. Sure, I need to check out the terms and make sure it will work, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for this.
I LOVE this orange coat. There is a pattern in this orange fabric, but it's a bit difficult to notice. The zippers and buckles and patches really work well with it. I especially dig those patches on the sleeves.
The skirt is weird and hideous, but I want that coat.
This furry, bubble coat is an interesting look. I actually like it quite a bit. This is a really youthful coat, but I know of at least a dozen stores where this would fit in. I love the buckles across the front of this.
This isn't like other tweed jacket. The furry patch and the buckles across the front ensure that. But it's a modern interpretation on the tweed jacket, and it's a very nice look.
This white skirt looks a bit ridiculous with the black patches riveted on. Apart from that, I love everything about this. The white skirt itself is cute, just the black parts are bad. The top is amazing and the tights are absolutely perfect. Most of all, I love her hair. This girl has some nice hair. lol
