New blog marketing site
01.31.08 (8:08 pm) [edit]
*This is a sponsored post.
I found a new site tonight called Buzzfuse. It's got some serious potential, but ultimately, it's not for me. More on that in a minute.
The way it works is that you register on their site (it's really easy to sign up), and you place a widget on the bottom of the posts you wish to share. I've got one on the bottom of one of my Valentino posts. Then, your post makes it onto their site and people can read it, rate it, comment on it, and share it. The people who contribute posts can earn money from it, which is really cool. Also, it doesn't just have to be a blog post. You can do a photo, audio, or whatever else you have in mind. It's a way to promote your online media.
Now for the reason I probably won't use it a lot in the future. In order to get it placed on their site, you have to release your content to 10 people. Now, they have a good reason for this. If you want them to promote your content, you should promote it too. That's reasonable. Also, from a business standpoint, it's pretty brilliant. It gets at least 10 other people seeing their site. So this site is set to spread like wildfire. My only problem, and it is MY problem, is that I hate marketing. I can sit down and write posts, but I just feel like a heel asking people to promote my content on social media sites. lol I know, it's probably just me. I see so many requests for people to promote their post through various means, but I never can bring myself to ask. lol It's not that I dislike people asking, it's just my own weird hang-up. That's not something I'm going to hold against the site. I think it has tremendous potential, and it would really increase traffic for a lot of people. I love that it's something that goes in each post, rather than in the sidebar. That has the potential to really promote the posts, rather than just another blog. I really encourage you to try it and see what you think of it.

Valentino- White Suit, Black Bow
01.31.08 (7:42 pm) [edit]

This suit would be lovely (although borderline boring), except for one small detail- that stupid bow on the front. With the bow, it looks like something my daughter would pick to play dress-up. It's just too immature looking to be taken seriously.

Valentino- Sunburst Skirt
01.31.08 (7:40 pm) [edit]

This is the most amazing skirt in this collection, and in fact, it works when you compare it to other designers.
It appears to have a sheer overlay, and that is the part that is beaded. Underneath is a silver color skirt. And the one sleeve look really works in this case. I love how it's perfectly flat and very fitted to her body. It's a great outfit.

Valentino- Sienna Miller Dress
01.28.08 (6:16 pm) [edit]

Doesn't this look like something that Sienna Miller would wear?! I think it's the short, swirly, bohemian sort of look that gives me that impression, but I think she could wear this dress straight off the runway.
As for the quality, it looks like silk from the vantage point of my screen. A lot of people think of silk as being similar to satin, but it's not. The differences are substantial. Silk has a shine to it, but it's much more understated than satin. I guess the best way to describe it is as if the shine is from inside the thread, rather than a superficial coating. Also, it has something called "slubs" which are little parts where the thread in the fabric is sort of knotted up. It's not considered a flaw for it to be this way.
In this dress, the darts are not fantastic, and where the lace attaches to the silk at the hem looks like it's puckering some, but I'm not going to give them too much grief, because I don't think I could do any better with silk. It's not horribly difficult, but it's not the easiest fabric available.

I'm back!
01.28.08 (5:59 pm) [edit]
Sorry I've been away, guys and gals. I started a new blog at WatchMyAerogrow.com. I've been having lots of fun with that, but obviously, it does take up a little more time. I'm also creating a new blog with several women I know. It's our funny, snarky, irreverent take on being a mom. Furthermore, there are two more blogs I'm considering. And all of this in addition to ToastTheTrends.com (part two of this blog) and the trillion and a half other blogs I've got. Whew. I've been a busy girl.
I apologize for this next part, but I have to do it. It looks as though I may have some site scrapers grabbing my site content from here. If you're not reading this at Intricategirl.tblog.com, you are reading the work of a thief, and the scum of the earth. For those not reading it on Tblog, the site you are reading is violating my copyright, and you are missing out on all the amazing people who stop by and comment. And the comments can get really funny. If nothing else, come visit the real site, but if you don't mind, I'd also appreciate it if you told me where to find these other sites. Thanks in advance.
Now, on to the fashion, and I promise not to be so neglectful. :)
