Trucks

Brought to you by TheCarConnection.com

My ex has had a couple of chevy trucks. Most notably, and El Camino. I can't admit I've ever understood that. There's something about El Caminos that guys like, and every girl I've talked to can't stand them. Some girls I know have gone so far as saying they'd never date a guy who drove one. In fact, I recall saying that. His mom had a Chevy 4x4 I believe his nephew now owns it. It's not really my style either.

Me, I'm a Ford girl. And I'm not opposed to pickups, lest you think that. I think a newer ford f250 is just about my style. Yeah, I go for the "cowboy limos".

My parents owned a couple of trucks way back when. Apart from that, they've been die-hard car people. I always liked their pontiac, and would have much rather driven that to school than the ugly, beatup minivan I had to drive.

Sorry

Not much to write right now. I've had a very difficult year so far, and it just got worse. My husband and I are splitting up. I'm not exactly a willing participant in all of this, but it seems I don't get a say. In addition, my house has gone back to the bank, and I recently had a breast cancer scare (I am fine, thankfully).

I'm sure you've noticed that I'm writing more here now. The simple fact is, I've got two kids to support, and no job or skills that could readily land me a job. I've done the ads before, and it's time to start them back up.

I'm just kind of bereft of anything meaningful to say right now. I apologize.

TV

Brought to you by Blogtelevision.net

A while back, I canceled my cable subscription. It's still a decision I struggle with. I can sit and tell you that there's nothing good on tv, and mean every word of it. But with the next breath, I'll tell you all about the shows that are the exception. lol And free tv might work for me, except that we don't even have an NBC affiliate here, so I get NBC, CBS, PBS, maybe Fox and CW, and some Spanish language station and one that plays only shows from the 70's. Seriously.

I seriously thought about getting Direct TV. I suppose I'm still thinking about it. I stopped by directtv.com last week to see what sort of packages they have to offer, but it's hard to make up my mind. I really love the premium channels and have really no interest in the ordinary cable channels, but my kids are the opposite. They want stuff like Cartoon Network and don't care about HBO since we won't let them watch anything on it anyway.

One of these days I'll find some DirecTV Specials that are too good to pass up. Until then, I guess I'm going to have to miss out on all the shows everyone is talking about.

Michelle Obama Dares to Wear a Sweater.

Apparently, some are up in arms over Michelle Obama's decision to wear a sweater when she met the Queen. Reports are, Oscar de la Renta said, “You don’t show up at Buckingham Palace…in a sweater."

Being an American, I am mostly ignorant of what one would wear to meet the Queen. I just don't get the protocol. Now, that doesn't mean I would show up in shorts, flip-flops, and a tank top if I ever was lucky enough to be invited to the palace. But my first reaction was that the Queen obviously has no problem with polyester, and I doubt she's offended by a nice sweater. ;) Sorry. That was cheeky of me.

Shoe Design

Brought to you by Zappos.com

I have a LOT of shoes. No, I mean a lot. Like somewhere around 400 pairs. But that does include boots. :) I've been thinking about getting into shoe design myself, but something like women's boots are probably going to be the last thing I get to play with, just because getting my hands on a women's last (the foot shaped mold that boots are constructed around) would be difficult and pricy.

Still, it's nice to dream. And I think there is a lot of room for experimentation in boots. The range of styles is tremendous! You've got all the way from these cowboy boots to these blue ankle booties to some really cool Wellies to some really sexy knee-highs. And see, this is exactly how I acquired so many pairs of shoes. The kind of outfit that would look good with that pair of cowboy boots wouldn't work the same with the sexy knee-highs.

One of these days, I'll get to play with making some. Until then, I imagine I'll just have to keep buying my boots, same as everyone else. I don't know which idea scares my husband more. :)

Cupcake Pendant

Photobucket

HOW CUTE IS THIS?!? It's a silly and playful cupcake pendant , and it's got a very Carrie Bradshaw kind of look to it. I mean, that kind of whimsy takes a bold girl with her own wacky sense of style. I like it, and give it a definite thumbs up. It's probably best for around the 15-20 year old age group.
