Trucks

My ex has had a couple of chevy trucks. Most notably, and El Camino. I can't admit I've ever understood that. There's something about El Caminos that guys like, and every girl I've talked to can't stand them. Some girls I know have gone so far as saying they'd never date a guy who drove one. In fact, I recall saying that. His mom had a Chevy 4x4 I believe his nephew now owns it. It's not really my style either.
Me, I'm a Ford girl. And I'm not opposed to pickups, lest you think that. I think a newer ford f250 is just about my style. Yeah, I go for the "cowboy limos".
My parents owned a couple of trucks way back when. Apart from that, they've been die-hard car people. I always liked their pontiac, and would have much rather driven that to school than the ugly, beatup minivan I had to drive.

Trucks. What is it about mean and trucks. A few weeks ago I spent a day in a small town south of here, and far from the big city. There were about ten men at the meeting, and every one of them drove a truck! I'm pretty sure it is a statement of virility, of masculinity. To me they're not very practical, unless you have reason to haul things. They do not get good gas mileage, the seats are not as comfortable, not roomy, the ride is bumpy, etc. But, hey, a guy does look tough in a truck!
What is humorous to me is the insistance, apparently by men with too much money, to drive a Hummer. Even in these tough economic times, they drive them regularly around here. I think a Hummer is intended to be driven in the dunes and mountains of third world countries, a vehicle for military use. These versions are equipped with all the toys, and will of course never be driven off the highway. And I could literally park my car inside one of them! I wonder, sometimes, if the driver needs such a large vehicle to compensate for something else that is small? Now, that was not nice!
